KL Christmas

We decided that KL would be where we spent Christmas. Unfortunately, Kl wasn’t the best place to spend Christmas. We had a rickety hostel with no AC and the very basics to make ends meet. On Christmas Eve we ventured to China Town for a sit down meal and some drinks. It was the strangest Christmas Eve I could imagine. As I was sipping my beer and enjoying some sweet and sour chicken with my friends, a scooter drove past with a monkey behind the driver. Not only this monkey holding onto the driver like a regular human, he was dressed in a matching outfit as the driver. Not something you see every day, let alone on your Christmas Eve dinner!DSC_1389

I was lucky enough to spend Christmas with Marge, my boyfriend Garrett, and two travelers we had met earlier on the road, Beth and Adele. Even though it was 80 degrees out, rainy, and we had no oven to cook with, we made the best of our Holiday. The highlight of my Christmas was the bundle of letters I received from my family and friends. Katie Reynolds was the mastermind behind all of it. She contacted dozens of friends and family members to contribute, giving Marge and I the most meaningful Christmas present we could imagine. I laughed and cried reading my pile of letters and loved every minute of it. Thanks Katie: you are so clever and thoughtful.

On our last night in KL, Garrett and I ventured to the Petronas Towers. They were incredible to see lit up like two giant light bulbs illuminating the city all around them. We got some pictures and ventured all around and through the massive connected buildings before heading back to our hostel. This was definitly the highlight of our stay in KL.
